Lyrics

Alligator Food

You can't leave the park til you spend all your money
So why not buy some alligator food?
The gators only like it when the weather's really sunny,
And today you could catch them in a really good mood!

Splash splash splash go the alligators!
Stomp stomp stomp go their feet
Snap snap snap go their masticators
Chomp chomp chomp on the meat!

These reptiles dine daily at 3:45
So queue up now to give them a treat
Pay an extra two-fifty for something alive
And watch them sense its body heat!

CHORUS

Alligator keeping's a simple profession
Everyone's thirsting for a bloody good show
You suckers get hooked at the merest suggestion
It's feeding time, so now over you go!

CHORUS X2

Two Coincidences

You've only read my mind on a couple of occasions
But I paid attention to them like the stations of the cross
My heart was on the mend from last year's confrontations
And I didn't want you to find me at a loss.

Seriously, I find it hard to tell.
In twenty years, a system's started to develop.
So when you already knew what I was about to say,
I thought it was worth paying close attention,
That you were saying something I would also mention.

But really, twice isn't very so much.
And I'm starting to see that it was only luck,
A mere coincidence, or force of habit.
You know how it is, no matter how thin,
The heart sees something within
And wants to reach out and grab it.

Dilemme

L'amour, l'amour,
Les feux que j'adore.
Mais je ne sais pas
Une mode d'emploi
Pour ne pas se brūler encore.

Mammals

Furry little mammals
Scurrying, worrying
Where the next meal's coming from

Everything they do
Is simplistic and frightened
Til they hear the beat of the drum
Then they know they have to succumb
When the mammal's dance has begun

Fortune Cookie

whatever is sufficient to get us to this point
is insufficient to get us any further
chopping off a finger behind the second joint
is tantamount to changing the weather

whether we left it behind
or didn't know what to find
doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things
we were lucky enough
to follow through with the bluff
before we had to hear the fat lady sing

and she was singing:

feel fortunate you found a fortune
that importuned something actually important
most people lose all hope when
they break the cookie open
and a fortune isn't what they find
but no one said a cookie had to be kind

we are never inefficient and we hate to disappoint
to be efficient is our one common goal
choosing from a basket the one we will anoint
is worse than bad it's positively droll

what we couldn't unbind
and didn't know how to wind
won't keep the story from unravelling
we might act rather tough
but all our actions are fluff
compared to what the countertenor will sing

now he's singing:

feel fortunate you found a fortune
that importuned something actually important
most folks abandon the boat when
they break the cookie open
and a fortune isn't what they find
sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind

Still

If I lie completely still
Some of the satisfaction will get to me
Not how I had planned it
I thought it abandoned me
When I went in for the kill
That's what I'd been led to believe
But it's starting to look like I was deceived
And if you want me to lie to you about it, I will.
If you want me to lie to you about it,
I will, I will, I will.

My Darling Steven

Oh my darling Steven
You're a little piece of heaven
Let us ride our segways
cross the bridges and quays
Oh my honey darling Steven!

Your body is a boiler
Your head it is a kettle
Your arms they are aluminum
Your precious, too, is metal!

Oh my darling Steven
You're a little piece of heaven
Let us ride our segways
cross the bridges and quays
Oh my honey darling Steven!

Your brain is from a microchip
Your legs from a bicycle
But why'd you end it all my dear,
And get yourself recycled?

Oh my darling Steven
I will see you up in heaven
We will ride our segways
On starlight and sunrays
Oh my dear departed Steven!

Instrumental Verse

Oh my darling Steven
I will see you up in heaven
We will ride our segways
On starlight and sunrays
Oh my dear departed Steven!
